TechTogether's Chapter Program

Applications for the 2021-2022 Chapter Program are now closed. Applications will be open again for our 2022-2023 hackathon season in April 2022. Get notified when applications open again.

Marketing Director

Lead and implement all marketing and communication activities on behalf of your chapter's hackathon. You will be responsible for email marketing, social media, and community outreach. This role is unique in that you'll be able to learn how a large organization structures it's marketing operations and get access to advanced paid marketing tools. This role is great for anyone that wants to develop their project management, event planning, and marketing outreach skill-sets. Each Marketing Director will manage a team of 2-3 general members.

Programming Director

Oversee and organize the structure of your chapter's hackathon. This includes crafting a schedule for the event and being the point of contact for volunteers, mentors, and judges. This role is unique in that you'll have the opportunity to form personal relationships with TechTogether's awesome community of volunteers. This role is great for anyone that wants to develop their project management, event planning, and marketing outreach skill-sets. Each Programming Director will manage a team of 2-3 general members.

Technical (Tech) Director

Oversee and implement the creation of your chapter's hackathon website using HTML/CSS, Javascript, and Bootstrap. This role is great for anyone that wants to develop their web development, UI/UX, and project management skill-sets. Each Technical Director will manage a team of 1-2 general members.

Sponsorship Director

Build and maintain relationships with TechTogether's corporate partners to secure funding for your chapter's hackathon. This role is great for anyone that wants to develop their sales, strategy, and project management skill-sets. This role is unique in that you'll have the opportunity to form personal relationships with representatives at our partnering companies. Each Sponsorship Director will manage a team of 2-3 general members.

Marketing General Member

Help the Marketing Director with email marketing, social media, and community outreach. One member on this team will help specifically with graphic design.

Programming General Member

Help the Programming Director organize the structure of your chapter's hackathon. This includes helping the Director craft a schedule for the event and being the point of contact for volunteers, mentors, and judges.

Technical (Tech) General Member

Help the Technical Director in the creation of your chapter's hackathon website using HTML/CSS, Javascript, and Bootstrap.

Sponsorship General Member

Help the Sponsorship Director build and maintain relationships with TechTogether's corporate partners to secure funding for your chapter's hackathon.

About the Program

Since 2017, TechTogether has served over 3,500 people of marginalized genders through our annual Chapter program. This program is a good fit for candidates looking to give back to their community, grow their professional network, build their resume, and sharpen their professional skill-sets.

The Chapter program trains all members on how to host a TechTogether gender-focused hackathon. TechTogether has been hosting hackathons for 4 years with an average 99% recommendation rating.

This year, TechTogether is implementing a new training and onboarding program. This program will be held over the course of 3 weeks and help you gain the skills needed to be a TechTogether organizer.

The TechTogether alumni referral portal includes referrals to companies like Audible, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Drift, The Boston Globe, Capital One, Discover, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

No coding or hackathon experience is required to partake in the Chapter Program. The point of the Chapter Program is to teach you the skills needed to organize a hackathon for your community.
If you have been out of school or your training program for over a year than you can not partake in this program. If you are less than one year (several months over this limit is fine) out of school or training program than you can partake in the program. Otherwise, anyone 14 years and older can apply to the Chapter Program.
As of right now, we are not expanding our Chapter Program internationally. TechTogether aims to open chapters globally in the future.
